Chen Reznik-Moran, Emboodo’s content writer:

For as long as I can remember – I’ve been a writer. Not only did I love writing, I was a writer. Because a writer doesn’t necessarily study. Of course, you can always improve your writing skills, but being a writer doesn’t come from the mind – it sprouts from within the soul.

As I grew older, I believed writing wouldn’t be enough to support a family, so I left it as a hobby. That is, until I discovered the magical world of SEO content writing. Suddenly, I was getting paid to do the thing I loved most! What more could I ask for?

But content writing isn’t just about putting words together. It involves applying SEO principles to create high quality content for SEO. So let’s follow Maria’s advice from The Sound of Music and “start at the very beginning.”

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It refers to strategies used to improve a website’s visibility on search engines. Techniques include internal and external linking, improving load speed, and generating a sitemap.xml file. But one of the top-ranking factors is high quality content for SEO. Essentially, content that keeps users engaged and satisfied.

Because when users are happy, Google is happy.

What Makes for High Quality Content in SEO?

As mentioned earlier, writing isn’t enough – you need high quality content for SEO. Google evaluates how users interact with your content, and poorly written articles drive visitors away. But strong writing alone doesn’t guarantee success. Here are a few key SEO writing principles to remember:

Keywords

Every article must include relevant keywords. These should be identified through proper keyword research—look for commonly searched terms and evaluate your competitors. Once chosen, integrate these keywords naturally into the text, ideally 2–3 times. I recommend placing the main keyword in the H1 title, at least one H2 header, and within the body.

H1 Title

The H1 is the main title of the article. It’s the most noticeable element for readers and is highly weighted by search engine bots. It should clearly reflect the article’s topic and fall between 20–70 characters. Above all, make it appealing for users—because high quality content SEO is about user experience first, not just search engine rankings.

Meta Tags

So, you’ve written your article: great flow, strong H1, no errors, keyword-rich. You’re ready to hit publish. Wait—did you remember your meta tags?

Meta tags include the meta title and meta description. Though invisible on the page itself, they’re crucial for SEO and user click-through.

  • Meta Title: This is the true title seen by search engines. It must be concise, informative, and include the page’s keywords. It also appears in browser tabs and search results, so it should appeal to both bots and people. Keep it under 60 characters.
  • Meta Description: This appears under the page title in search results and offers a deeper summary of your article’s topic. It’s a great opportunity to include keywords again, helping readers recognize relevant search terms and encouraging them to click. Keep it under 155 characters.

Lastly, Never Forget the User

At the end of the day, SEO content writing is about guiding the customer’s journey. If users struggle to navigate your site, find information, or understand what to do next, your SEO strategy won’t matter.

When you prioritize high quality content for SEO and a clear user experience, you’re well on your way to success.

In my next post, I’ll leave the technical talk behind and dive into the soul of writing, specifically, how to overcome writer’s block. Because even when your job is to write every day, there are times when the words just don’t come. What then? Stay tuned.
