My company’s business is digital marketing, specializing in social networks (such as Facebook and Linkedin) and SEO. SEO is Search Engine Optimization, which means – reaching a high location in Google’s search results.
In order for a business to be successful it has to be known and easily reached, and one of the best ways to do that is by helping it reach one of the first results in Google’s search results page, for common search terms. If, for example, I’m performing a search on the term “flights to london”, then probably Skyscanner will appear as one of the first results, because it’s a very popular and successful website. If a flights schedule app is my business, then I will have to work very hard to promote it, so when someone searches for “flights to london”, my app will appear as one of the first results. Just imagine how popular it can become and how many sales will be completed, even without any additional marketing and publicity.
SEO work is for the long run. There’s a lot of work around it, many things you need to do in order to get Google to “like” your website. It can take months until you begin seeing results. But when you start seeing them, the SEO work will become simpler and ongoing, and you can remain in the first results for a very long time. It’s like building a house, you start by placing the foundations, then you build another layer and another one, and after a year of constrained work you have a house. It’s big, well-decorated and useful, you can start living in it and enjoying it, and only work on maintenance occasionally.
